La Perla is an Italian luxury lifestyle company owned by German entrepreneur Lars Windhorst through Sapinda Group.

La Perla was founded by master corsetmaker Ada Masotti in 1954 in Bologna, Italy, where the tradition of silk factories and textile manufacturing dates back to the 17th Century.

La Perla is one of few historical fashion houses with a woman founder.

While working in a local atelier, she was given the nickname “golden scissors” for her exacting cutting and tailoring abilities.

Over time, Ada Masotti adapted her corset expertise to different kinds of lingerie, inventing styles and redefining how lingerie was considered and worn.

Gucci is an Italian luxury brand of fashion and leather goods.

Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Tuscany, in 1921.

Gucci generated about €4.2 billion in revenue worldwide in 2008 according to BusinessWeek and climbed to 41st position in the magazine’s annual 2009 “Top Global 100 Brands” chart created by Interbrand; it retained that rank in Interbrand’s 2014 index. Gucci is also the highest-selling Italian brand.

In 2019, Gucci operated 487 stores for 17,157 employees, and generated €9.628 billion in sales (€8.2 billion in 2018). Gucci is a subsidiary of the French luxury group Kering.

Dawn Mello was hired in November 1989 as Gucci’s executive vice president and chief designer. She reduced the number of stores from +1,000 to 180 in a move to rebuild the brand’s exclusivity. She also reduced the number of items sold by Gucci from 22,000 to 7,000. She revived the Bamboo bag and the Gucci loafer. She moved Gucci’s headquarters back from Milan to Florence, where the history of Gucci is deeply rooted.

In 2011, the company opened the Gucci Museum (Gucci Museo) inside the 14th-century Palazzo della Mercanzia in Florence to celebrate its 90th anniversary.

The Natori Company is a women’s fashion designer and manufacturer based in New York City. The company sells lingerie, nightwear, loungewear, ready-to-wear, underwear and other high-end women’s fashion to upscale department stores in the US, and to at least 15 countries internationally.

In addition to women’s clothing, the company is also in the home furnishings industry, and has signed a licensing deal to sell Natori perfume.

Natori started a limited men’s line in 2006.

The company was founded by Josie Natori, a native Filipino. After starting her career on Wall Street at Merrill Lynch, where she rose the ranks to become the first female Vice President in Investment Banking, she decided to pursue a childhood dream of being an entrepreneur.

After considering a number of other entrepreneurial ventures from opening a McDonald’s franchise, to reproducing antique furniture, she settled on fashion after a buyer at Bloomingdale’s suggested she lengthen some peasant blouses sent to her from her native Philippines. The altered garments were sold as nightshirts.

Don Emilio Pucci, Marchese di Barsento (20 November 1914 – 29 November 1992) was a Florentine Italian fashion designer and politician.

He and his eponymous company are synonymous with geometric prints in a kaleidoscope of colors.

Pucci was born in Naples in 1914 to one of Florence’s oldest noble families, and he lived and worked in the Pucci Palace in Florence for much of his life. He was a keen sportsman who swam, skied, fenced, played tennis and raced cars.

Pucci was the first person to design a one-piece ski suit. Although there had been some experiments with stretch fabrics in Europe before the war, Pucci’s sleek designs caused a sensation, and he received several offers from American manufacturers to produce them.

Instead, he left the Air Force and set up an haute couture house in the fashionable resort of Canzone del Mare on the Isle of Capri.

After Emilio Pucci’s death in 1992, his daughter, Laudomia Pucci, continued to design under the Pucci name.

The French LVMH luxury goods empire acquired 67% of Pucci in 2000.

Laudomia became Image Director, while LVMH brought in major designers such as Christian Lacroix (creative director 2002-05), and in October 2005, Matthew Williamson, and Peter Dundas from 2009.
